Our Policies

  • Arrival & Setup: Paco and handler(s) will arrive 45 minutes to an hour prior to the designated start time. Before the event, we'll coordinate with you or the venue's point of contact for beverage and ice placement. We will need space for safe truck/trailer parking with enough sufficient area for loading/unloading and outfitting Paco.

  • Staffing: 1-2 handlers will accompany Paco to assist with beverages, guest interactions, and photos.

  • Venue approval: The venue must be informed of and approve having a beer burro on-site.

  • Beverage Supply: Burro Bar does not sell or provide alcohol. The venue or client must supply all beverages. Ice can be provided upon request, but having it available on-site is preferred.

  • Decor Customization: We provide standard southwestern-style decor, but we can coordinate with you for themed colors or flowers to match your event. Additional customization available upon request.

  • Guest Behavior: Paco’s well-being is our top priority. If a guest behaves inappropriately or repeatedly causes stress to Paco, we reserve the right to intervene, educate, and take necessary action to ensure his comfort and safety. Mistreatment or negligence will not be tolerated.

  • Child Supervision: While Paco loves children, we kindly ask that all children be supervised by an adult when interacting with him. Animals can be easily startled, and for everyone's safety, it is essential that children remain calm and respectful during their interactions.

Have More Questions?

  • Can Paco be decorated with my wedding florals?
Yes! If your florist is informed and willing to make a flower crown or embellishments for Paco, he can absolutely wear them. Consult at booking if you would like to do this so we can help your florist if needed.
  • What can a beer burro carry, and how much?
Generally speaking, donkeys can pull about twice their body weight across flat, even ground. As for what they can withstand on their back, a donkey should carry no more than 20%-25% of their body weight. We like to keep it under that and typically limit the load to around 20-30 pounds (12-14 beers with ice on each side). Paco can be used as unique transportation to distribute things from water bottles, beer, tequila, wine - to party favors and marketing materials. If not too heavy, we can get as creative as you would like.
  • Where are you located?
We are located in Maryland, with the ability to travel for events. Travel fees will apply for anything over a 25-mile radius from our home farm, which will be calculated at booking.
  • Who is responsible to provide beverages and ice?
We do not sell or provide alcohol. The venue or client provides all beverages, and preferably, ice as well. Ahead of your event, we will coordinate where we can locate all beverages and ice to be carried and will take care of replenishing throughout your event.
  • What do you do when Paco makes a "mess"?
Nature calls - and when Paco has to go, he has to go! We come prepared to clean up any mess Paco makes and take it with us when we go. However, we can't promise no potty breaks, so encourage you and/or your venue to be aware that it can (and probably will!) happen. In certain cases, we can secure a poo bag to Paco if it is a major concern.
  • Can Paco be in our wedding photos?
Absolutely! Paco can be a fun addition to a few of your wedding shots. Please be sure to factor this into the time commitment at booking.
  • How long of events do you typically do?
We typically try to stick to a three hour maximum for events to ensure Paco's well-being. Custom event pricing is available for events longer than three hours and will include scheduled breaks for Paco.
  • Will you ever have more donkeys available besides Paco?
We hope to eventually add another donkey or two to our gang, yes! But for now, Paco is a one-donkey show.
